Weight Loss

The doctors at Narangba Station Medical Centre are experienced in weight loss management and are able to prescribe weight loss medication and treatment if necessary.

You may qualify for prescription weight loss medication under the following conditions:

  • Your BMI exceeds 26, or your waist circumference exceeds 80cm.
  • You have previously tried to lose weight through dietary or lifestyle changes.

The weight loss method involves an injection into the belly’s skin using an easy-to-use pen device at home. An alternative option is a pill taken once or twice daily. Your doctor will help determine the most suitable option for you.

The weight loss treatment diminishes appetite, reduces cravings, and provides a prolonged feeling of fullness. You may experience temporary nausea which can be relieved with diet ginger beer. Typically, people will continue treatment for 2-3 months.
