Pregnancy & Reproductive Health Services

There isn’t one standard pathway through reproductive health. Some people come to us months before trying for a baby. Others book after a positive pregnancy test, when contraception is no longer working for them, or because something simply doesn’t feel right.

Our GPs can help across a range of areas including:

Pregnancy Planning

Pregnancy Planning

If you're thinking about becoming pregnant, a preconception appointment gives you an opportunity to look at your health before you start trying. Your GP can review medications and existing health conditions, discuss recommended supplements and vaccinations, arrange appropriate testing or  carrier screening.

Antenatal Care

Antenatal Care

From your first positive pregnancy test through to ongoing pregnancy care and personal wellbeing, your GP can help organise the tests, referrals and health checks you need whilst providing a familiar point of contact as your pregnancy progresses.

Pregnancy Planning

A preconception appointment is an opportunity to look at your holistic health as a whole and deal with anything that may be worth addressing before pregnancy. Rather than following a generic checklist, your GP will tailor the conversation to you.

Depending on your circumstances, this may include:

  • Reviewing prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Discussing existing medical or mental health conditions
  • Checking vaccination and immunity history
  • Discussing folate and other pre-pregnancy supplements
  • Arranging blood tests where appropriate
  • Discussing reproductive carrier screening
  • Reviewing menstrual or fertility concerns
  • Smoking, alcohol, physiology and lifestyle factors

Your partner’s health may also be relevant when planning a pregnancy, particularly if there are concerns about fertility or family history. Our aim is to simplify pregnancy planning and give you a clearer picture of anything worth considering where you can ask any questions.

When to book?

You don't need to wait until there is a significant problem to talk to a GP about reproductive health. If you’re unsure which appointment you need, call our reception team on (07) 3521 4333 and we can help point you in the right direction.

Consider booking an appointment if you:

  • Are thinking about trying for a baby
