Yes, bulk billing is available for certain services and patients, and will be implemented for patients under 16 years old, DVAs, and WorkCover patients. Some patients and services will attract private billing services, and this will be discussed during your appointment.

Bulk billing is a payment option where the medical provider directly bills healthcare service costs to Medicare, with no out-of-pocket expenses for the patient. Bulk billing is normally available for medical services that are considered ‘essential’ or ‘highly prevalent’; bulk billing ensures Australians have affordable access to necessary healthcare services.

However, many specialised services or procedures are not bulk billed, as they involve additional costs and specialised expertise or equipment. In these cases, private billing may be implemented. With private billing, the patient is directly responsible for paying the cost of the service received. A Medicare rebate may be provided; however, this will not cover the full cost, and a gap fee must be paid by the patient. Patients may also seek reimbursement from private health insurance.

For more information, discuss the billing options for the services you require with Narangba Station Medical Centre.

Make sure your Medicare card is connected to your bank account for rebates. If it is not connected, you may need to process your rebate manually. Please discuss this with the reception team.
