What is MyMedicare?

MyMedicare is a voluntary registration system designed to improve healthcare delivery and patient experiences. This new model from the Australian Government allows patients to build strong relationships with their preferred general or nurse practitioner and healthcare team. Attending the same clinic and seeing the same GPs for your medical appointments will allow your chosen doctor to provide you with better ongoing care.

Check you're eligible to register

You’re eligible to register for MyMedicare if you have:

  • a valid Veteran Card or Medicare card, and;
  • had 2 face-to-face appointments with your selected practice in the previous 24 months or one face-to-face visit for practices in remote locations.

Eligible face-to-face sessions can be funded by DVA, Medicare or a combination of both.

No, registration for MyMedicare is free and optional for eligible patients.

With MyMedicare, both patients and practices can access a range of benefits courtesy of additional funding from the Australian Government. Some of these benefits include longer MBS-funded telehealth consultations, triple bulk billing incentives for telehealth consults, and tailored care for complex chronic diseases.

No. The goal of MyMedicare is to help strengthen the relationship you have with a singular medical centre of your choice.

How to register:

You can register for MyMedicare online or you can fill out a registration form at Narangba Station Medical Centre where staff will enter your details into the MyMedicare system.

You can view a copy of the registration form here.

Please note:

  • Patients who register with a DVA Veteran Card will need to fill out a registration form at the practice, as registration via Medicare online services can only be completed using a Medicare card.
  • A parent/guardian will need to register a child under 14 years and provide consent on their behalf. It is important to note that registration for a child under 14 years will need to be completed at the practice.
  • Young people aged 14 to 17 years will be able to register and provide consent without a parent/guardian.

MyMedicare promotes stronger relationships

MyMedicare promotes stronger relationships between patients and their care teams, supporting person-centred care and reducing hospitalisations. It will be integrated with My Health Record, facilitating effective communication and collaboration among healthcare providers.
If you want to choose Narangba Station Medical Centre as your 'home clinic', you will need to register with MyMedicare, select our medical centre, and choose your preferred GP.
