What is a nutritionist?
A Nutritionist is a qualified health professional who specialises in the role of food and nutrients in promoting health and managing disease. Unlike Dietitians, who often work in clinical or hospital settings, Nutritionists typically focus on preventative health, lifestyle interventions and holistic care.
Nutritionists assess your current dietary habits, health conditions and lifestyle to provide practical recommendations tailored to your unique needs. They may also use tools like symptom tracking, functional testing and food diaries to support your progress.
How can a nutritionist help?
A Nutritionist can support a wide range of health concerns by addressing the root cause of symptoms and helping you make informed dietary and lifestyle changes. Deborah Smart draws from both nutritional medicine and naturopathic principles to guide her patients through:
- Managing chronic conditions
- Reducing inflammation
- Supporting hormonal balance
- Improving digestive health
- Enhancing energy and mental clarity
- Supporting immune resilience

Our Nutrition Services
Our services are designed to be highly personalised and evidence-based, supporting both short-term relief and long-term health. Some of the areas our Nutritionist, Deborah Smart, can assist with are outlined below.
What to Expect
Your initial consultation with our Nutritionist will typically last 60–75 minutes, allowing time for a detailed discussion of your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle and goals. Deborah may use tools like symptom questionnaires, dietary reviews and a range of tests to gain a comprehensive understanding of your health.
Tests may include blood screening, functional testing, hormone testing, vitamin and mineral status checks, and DNA analysis, depending on your individual needs.
From there, you'll receive a personalised treatment plan that may include food-based guidance, lifestyle changes, nutritional supplements (if appropriate), and follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and adjust your plan as needed.
Fees & Medicare
Nutrition services with our Nutritionist are privately billed. Medicare rebates are generally not available for nutrition consultations unless you are referred under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (please discuss this with your GP).
