About Alternative Medicine

In recent years, alternative medicine has emerged as an alternative option to conventional medical treatment; offering potential relief to patients grappling with chronic conditions. In Australia, alternative medicine can only be accessed via prescription by a general practitioner who has been authorized by the Relevant Regulatory Authority. The general practitioner will consider each individual patients needs, medical history, and the specific characteristics of the alternative treatment.

While on-going medical research through the world ensues, previous permissions for treatment have been granted by the relevant authority for patients with conditions such as:

Cancer Pain Management

Dementia

Fibromyalgia

Migraine's

Palliative Care

Refractory Nausea & Vomiting

Chemotherapy Induced Vomiting

Dystonia

Huntington Disease

Multiple Sclerosis

Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease

Chronic Non-Cancer Pain

Epilepsy

Insomnia

Neuropathic Pain

PTSD

Tourette’s Syndrome

What To Expect?

To access alternative-based therapies, patients must undertake a consultation with a qualified doctor who is authorised to prescribe. When you book a alternative medicine consultation at Narangba Station Medical Centre, you will see a doctor who will determine your eligibility and if approved, will discuss current available medical evidence to support your prescription. During the consultation with your doctor, you can expect a professional environment where your health concerns are our top priority.

Our consultations are aimed at understanding your unique health needs and exploring the best possible treatment options for you. During your consultation, our doctors will:
  • Review your medical history and current medications.
  • Ask a series of questions to determine your eligibility.
  • Discuss the potential benefits and risks associated with different treatment options.
  • Answer any questions you may have about alternative and natural medicine.
No matter whether you are new to alternative based treatments or have had extensive experience with holistic healthcare, book a consultation with our highly qualified doctors to start your journey.

Our experienced GPs may also recommend alternative medicine as a treatment option as part of a general health check or chronic pain consultation.
