Our Fees
Our Fees & Billing
Narangba Station Medical Centre is a mixed-billing medical practice. This means that some services are eligible for a partial Medicare rebate, some services are bulk billed and others are privately billed.
Our standard consults are priced at $95 (Medicare Rebate = $42.85), below the guidelines of the Australian Medical Association ($102). This is to ensure that we can provide high-quality medical care, whilst remaining viable. Please scroll down to view our full fees table.
Medicare Safety Net
If you require frequent medical consultations or medical tests, the Medicare Safety Net offers financial relief by minimising out-of-pocket expenses for individuals or families receiving numerous out-of-hospital services. This is a commonwealth scheme (not an insurance scheme) that is available to all Australian residents.
Fees Table & Pricing
Before reviewing our fees, please be advised that all consultation fees may be subject to change depending on the complexity and nature of the consultation.
Medicare Disclaimer: Services involving a consumable and treatment room fee do not attract a Medicare Rebate. Therefore, if you have reached your Medicare Threshold, please call our reception team to enquire about your rebate.
Medicare Safety Net
If you require frequent medical consultations or regular medical tests, the associated costs can accumulate over time. The Medicare Safety Net serves as a financial safety net, offering additional relief by minimising out-of-pocket expenses for individuals or families receiving numerous out-of-hospital services throughout the year. You can view more information about the Medicare Safety Net on the Medicare Australia website, or you can contact the friendly staff at Narangba Station Medical Centre and ask any questions.
How does it work?
If an individual or family exceeds a certain gap payment threshold within a calendar year, Medicare covers 100% of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) fee for out-of-hospital services. However, this may not cover all out-of-pocket costs if the treatment fee exceeds the schedule fee.
For single individuals, no action is needed—Medicare automatically increases the benefit once the threshold is met. Couples and families, however, must register to allow Medicare to track their combined medical expenses. This registration is required even if all family members share the same Medicare card and only needs to be done once.
What services are covered?
The Medicare Safety Net threshold covers various doctor visits and tests. Some of the services included are:
- GP & Specialist Consultations
- Ultrasounds & Blood tests
- Pap tests
- CT scans & X-rays
Medical services not covered by Medicare and in-hospital services are not part of the Medicare Safety Net. Admission to the hospital, including surgery, doctor visits, and tests during hospitalisation, falls outside the scope of the Safety Net.
